Iced Rooibos Mint Tea

Bariatric surgery patients – you know you have to stay hydrated. You’ve heard the warnings, the stories, maybe even know on a personal level going in for fluids after getting behind. I don’t have to warn you of the importance of sip, sip, sipping!

So instead, let’s focus on what fluids hydrate your body and how to keep them refreshing so you actually MISS your cup when it isn’t nearby. As always, use your programs nutrition information for your guidelines. Everything shared on FoodCoach.Me is to be verified by your personal program!

Beverages without caffeine – caffeine is a diurectic which means it can dehydrate your body. Herbal tea is tea that naturally contains NO caffeine and is a great way to hydrate your body! This Red Roobios Tea is an herbal tea and contains no caffeine!

Beverages without carbonation – yes even those flavored waters that fizz when you open the cap are not a good choices after weight loss surgery. Best to find flavored waters without the fizz OR if you really love that flavor, open it early in the day and put it in the refrigerator to get flat before drinking.

Beverages without calories – my own guidelines is to keep drinks less than 15 calories for 8 ounces of liquid. Outside of a protein shake, it’s best not to consume calories in liquids.

This recipe fits ALL those guidelines and is so delicious and refreshing. I just love the strong flavor of the Red Rooibos tea, plus the fresh flavors of mint and lemon. I think you’ll enjoy it very much!
