Product Review: Campbells® Oven Sauces

Name of Product: Campbells® Oven Sauce – Classic Roasted Chicken

Where it was purchased: Walmart

Cost: $2.44

How it might be used: Perfect for a home cooked meal that didn’t take you near the time of making one!

Thoughts/Review: The amount of work on this meal is just awesome. I did opt to cut up my baby carrots which was the most time consuming part of the whole situation. I placed chicken in a casserole dish, added carrots and topped with the sauce. The house smelled wonderful and the chicken was moist, flavor was wonderful! I did look through several of the other flavors before choosing this one. Several of the other flavors were much higher in carbohydrates and sugar such as Sweet Teriyaki (which you might have guess). The pre-packaged sauces can be a great way to change up the flavors in your kitchen without much work but be sure to watch nutrition labels carefully on these products. Check out this *members* video on reading nutrition labels for pre-packaged meals or this one for condiments, sauces and dips.

NUTRITION:  The entire package provides 240 calories, 6 grams protein, 30 grams carbohydrate and 9 grams of fat. (The label shows for 1/6th of the sauce). Sauce can be tough to determine how much you ACTUALLY ate versus how much is left behind in the pan so it does take some “best guessing” when you put it into your smart phone food journal.
