Enlightened Broad Bean Crisps | Bariatric Product Review | FoodCoachMe

Name of Product:  Enlightened® Broad Bean Crisps

Where it was purchased: HyVee ‘Health Food Section’  (local grocery store in the Midwest)

Cost: $3 for 3.5 oz bag

How it might be used: A salty snack craving that won’t get you in too much trouble

Thoughts/Review: At first bite I was not so sure. But like anyone sane person would do…I kept trying them! :) They actually grew on me with time but in a good way, I wouldn’t be able to eat too many. They have a little bit of a chalky texture that turning a little into a paste as I ate it. I know that doesn’t sound appealing but the flavor and the crunch is still pretty enjoyable and satisfies that craving. I think they are worth trying for yourself. They will either do just what you need it to and satisfy that crunch desire or they won’t be a hit and you’ll be out $3!

NUTRITION:  The serving size is 1 ounce and the entire bag has 4.5 servings. For one ounce you’ll get 7 grams of protein, 15 grams of carbohydrate and 3 grams of fat. Because they are BEANS they will be in her carbohydrates. You could pair them some reduced fat cheese and get al ittle more protein and not eat as much of the beans to keep the carbohydrates down. Again, I don’t think you’ll be tempted to go for the entire bag but nonetheless keep a record of what you ate in your food journal at watch your macronutrient ratios!
