Carb Rehab- Day #4 Recap
Ahhh sweet relief.
If you didn’t read about Carb Rehab Days #1, #2 or #3…then catch up! :)
Days #2 and #3 of a carb rehab are by the far the most difficult. I feel my hungriest during these days. I ate meals an hour before my normal time and my portions were bigger than normal. In fact, I could eat a good sized meat and veggie meal and feeling starved an hour later. I drank water like it was my day job and used decaf coffee as a deterrent in the afternoon.
But Day #4 is a beautiful turn of a events for me, historically. It was no exception this time! As a type this, I am well into Day #5 and feeling wonderful.
If you’ve been toying with the idea of checking yourself into carb rehab I want to greatly encourage you to DO IT! You will not regret it when you hit days 4 & 5. Come join me in feeling great!!!!!!!!!!!
I even turned down the wrong aisle at the grocery store TWICE today and ended up surrounded by bags of chips and Easter candy. It didn’t even phase me. 2 days ago I would have said ‘Are you kidding me?!?!?” only slightly under my breath.
So here is the recap of Day #4. I’m going to go ahead and give you the rundown of Day #5 as well…because it’s super similar. My carb rehab is officially 5 days. Like I mentioned in my Day #1 recap, the first 3-5 days are the hardest. So while my Carb Detox is done…I’m determined to stay feeling great and not have to re-live those hard days for a very long time!
Day #4
6AM EAS AdvantEdge Protein shake & coffee
9AM Cinnamon Crunch Protein Bar
12PM Leftover taco chicken on a bed of lettuce with extra salsa
3:30PM Peppermint Cocoa Crunch Bar
5:30PM Okay FINE….I had a glass of Chardonnay at a Junior League Happy Hour. I feel like alcohol comes and goes for me. One week I have 3 social events with a glass of wine and then nothing for several weeks.
8:00PM Later dinner after JL meeting….more leftover Taco Chicken
Day #5
7AM EAS AdvantEdge Protein Shake and an American
9AM Another EAS AdvantEdge Protein Shake and an Americano (…lots of coffee meetings means I HAVEN’T BLINKED IN HOURS!)
12PM Final round of leftover taco chicken before grocery shopping!!
3:30PM 2 low-fat mozzarella cheese sticks
**I haven’t finished Day #5 because it’s 4pm as I write this update. BUT because I’m feeling great and my hunger is very controlled, I know I will follow the plans I have for the rest of the day….
Dinner: lean turkey sausage with peppers and onions
Late night snack IF needed: Fat-Free Plain Greek Yogurt with Sweetener
And thus, my Carb Rehab of April 2014 is concluded. Now just THINK about how quickly this week went by. It wasn’t easy and I never said it would be- but the week is winding down and I’m on the other side of getting starches and sweets back out of my life. I feel amazing and I want you to join me!!
