I’m so excited to find this feature on MyFitnessPal that I’ve never taken the time to explore! Watch this video and I’ll show you how simple it is to put a recipe from this website (or any other recipe website) into your food journal. This is also going to make it easier for me to include protein and carbohydrate amounts of the top of recipe posts!

Bariatric patients – I cannot stress enough how much food journaling can impact your weight-loss journey. Even when you feel like you aren’t eating much or you’re doing fine, the accountability and the eye opening information food journal apps can bring make a HUGE difference in weight loss with your Gastric Sleeve, Band or Bypass. My favorite is MyFitnessPal for several reasons…but certainly for the one in this video!

  1. So, 2 Dieticians and 3 Surgeons have all told me in the last few months as I prep for surgery that I must avoid any kind of carbonation as it will “stretch out my pouch”.  I will be sure to ask them about your info tomorrow at my next dietary meeting, but I have to ask – what is the evidence you are citing for this to be “crap-o-la” (to use your term)? What sources are you relying on before you advise people that this is not a phenomenon they need to worry about? Thanks.

  2. I agree with avoiding carbonation after surgery! I don’t find that to be crap-ola at all!

  3. I can tell you from experience that carbonation HURTS. If you think about that little pouch, now add carbonation. It’s going to fill up fast with the bubbles from the carbonation and whatever you drank is going to come up or hurt like crazy. I am 16 years post-op and still can’t drink a beer. I can have a few sips spaced out over time. I don’t drink sodas. I drink water, lots of water. Occasionally I will have a glass of iced tea and I drink coffee in the morning only. It’s a new way of living for sure. <<>>
